When I was younger, I was diagnosed with ADHD. In the past, I have been prescribed Adderall and Ritalin, but a few years back, I decided that it was no longer necessary for me to keep taking the medication. First of all, I am not a doctor, and am not giving any medical advice in the least bit, rather I am going to tell you a personal story, and let you choose what to take from it. I used to love popping the pill in my mouth, waiting for 15 minutes, and then being able to write a college thesis in the next 2 hours that was worthy of an A+. This was a performance enhancing drug at its best.

I could read for hours, write for hours, and stay up for days. It was like a super power that gave me an unfair advantage over all the other students. Despite all of the benefits that I experienced, I decided to stop taking the medication. Some self righteous cleansing of the body was probably the driving force behind the decision. It is not that I regret the decision, it just makes me wonder where I would be in my life had I not given up my super powers.

It has been years since I have gone near the stuff, but every now and then I do hear about it in the news or from friends who have recently come into contact. There are tons of articles out there written by health professionals who say “just make it legal,” because the benefits far outweigh the minimal negative side effects. However, that is not the point of blog right now. Personally it doesn’t make a difference to me whether they change the legality of it, I’ve already had my fun. Some people need it, some people don’t, but I feel that almost everyone could benefit in at least some way from it. It is a performance enhancing drug that will boost your grades and increase the quality of your work. I wrote some of my best papers ever while enjoying its effects.

The title of this article is not misleading in the least bit. I had just read an article about Adderall and came across another one which was promoting a natural substitute. Maybe someday I will try it, but I have never really been much of a promoter of the organic community. After seeing some natural substitutes it seemed like the next progressive step to see if people have been making it at home. What I came across was that the closest thing that you can make at home is comparable to speed, not adderall. Speed is a little excessive for studying, and I’m pretty sure it is far from legal as well. So after clicking around for a few more minutes, I came across another article called “Adderall in a Cup.”

I searched for it again, but couldn’t find it, otherwise I would post a link in here and give them the credit. The fun part was that all of these ingredients were legal, and most people already have them in their kitchen cupboard. I whipped some up in a matter of minutes, and was feeling the effects of the “Adderall in Cup” almost instantly. I am on it right now, and to the best of my memory it feels almost exactly the same. The only difference being I don’t have dry mouth, and my stomach has a slight pain in it.

The ingredients are as follows. Instant Coffee; Cayenne Pepper; Unsweetened Cocoa Powder; and Water. That’s it! I grabbed mug put in 1/2 tsp coffee, 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper, 2 tsp cocoa powder, and 1/2 cup of water. Put hot water in first to help it dissolve and then mix cold water in. Take a tums, because just think about what you are putting into your stomach, and have something strong and sweet to shove in your mouth after because this TASTES TERRIBLE! It’s spicy and sweet and gross all at the same time. However, it did work.

This is not a substitute for ADHD medication. I am not a health professional. Take further action at your own risk.

Let me know if you tried it in the comments below or if you have any more thoughts on the subject. Thanks again.
